society: yesterday and today

i'm back after such a long time. nothing much happened but just something i wanted to express about.

well, i had a great day serving in ministry and in service yesterday. brought the elderly to sentosa to have fun! haha, supposed to be able to pay Syahril a visit but due to some problems, i couldn't visit him. sorry dude!

(extreme fast forward)

so at night, after service, i went home with JiJi and we had a chat. although we do not know each other well, we still can touch on some topics that really boggles the mind. but i'm not going into detail. i'll only touch on one important topic. that is: society.

it has come to my attention as JiJi asked me why are people's heart so hard these days. i'm not just talking about sharing the gospel, i'm also touching on other issues where people will even come to the extent to completely ignore others around them. it's really shocking to me. ever since we are toddlers, all of us have been taught moral values such as to be considerate and help others in need. such values nowadays are slowly becoming like mere idealogy rather than values.

it's not like i'm being a complete idealist or something. but just think, where were the days when people would be like in the kampong, talking to each other, helping one another? this liveliness seemed to have been demolished along with the kampongs. now where the kampongs are, stood big, concrete-filled HDB flats.

i once heard a saying that HDB flats are like stone apartments where people are as cold as the concrete used in making these apartments we live in. how true is it? i'm not sure.

or maybe it's true. i do notice that why some crime happen is because people always mind their own business. they don't intervene into people's problems. and when they are interviewed, they'll just say they know the incident but never lay a finger or they just assume that it was minor problem.

maybe i finally understand why am i serving in the ministry i'm serving now. seeing the elderlies smile and thank us sure is something that makes one smile. maybe one day, i really pray for that day, everyone will start to realise the importance of these values and reinforce them.

i really want to be a history maker.

" You are the salt of the earth and light of the world."
