The Monster

'Oh you poor boy!
Oh poor you!
You are always smiling;
Always wanting to make people smile;
Always wanting to be there for people;
Always wanting to care for the people around you;
Now I ask;
Are not you alone now?
Where are you friends that you hold so dear?
Who is there for you when you are down?
Who is there to smile at you?
Who is there to lift you up?
Tell me, who?',
said The Monster to the boy.

The boy kept quiet,
He walked on into the jungle while The Monster continued to asked him.
Again and again,
the monster loomed over the boy as he take a step,
Asking the same questions.
His heart started to doubt.
Every step he take,
Agony arose more and more.
But the boy kept quiet.

'Where are my friends?
What are they doing?
Do they care about me?
Am I really alone?
Someone answer me...',
the boy asked himself.

The Monster snarled at the boy,
Laughing at him as he walks into the jungle.
The Monster mocked at the boy,
Ridiculing him for his foolishness as he walks into the jungle.

Strength slowly leaves the boy's body,
He grew weak and weary,
Words from The Monster brought a cold warmth to the boy,
He grew unaware of the plight that is unfolding ahead.

'Keep walking,
Don't lose heart,
You are not alone.',
a voice called out to the boy.
'Never once you were alone,
The Monster lies!
Never once your friends did not cared for you,
The Monster lies!
Stand up against The Monster!
The Monster devours those that fall for his words!
Stand up against The Monster!
You have the strength, I'm sure!'

The boy heard the voice,
Unsure if it was his imagination.
He starts to clear his mind of his thoughts and listen to the voice,
Strength returned to the boy.

Away from The Monster, the boy walked.
Away from the jungle, the boy walked.

The Monster continued to speak to the boy but he does not hear him.
He threatens the boy but he does not heed him.

'Get away from me!
Oh, You who speak lies!
You came to me like a friend when I am alone;
Comforted me like a loving mother;
Yet you plotted in your heart to devour me when I am not aware.
See now that I have discovered your motives;
Be gone from me now!
Oh You who speak lies!',
said the boy to The Monster.

Startled by the boy, The Monster was.
Startled by the boy, The Monster left.
Into the jungle where he reside.
Into the loomy shade where he dwelt.

The boy left the jungle, standing high and bright.
Having endured a grueling time where he faced The Monster.
He left for the place where he smiles,
To the place where his friends welcome him with their arms.
Where the warmth is real and tangible.

God is good...
