with just 17 days left (16 in another short moment as i finish this line of text in this brackets) before i enlist, i really wish that i can really post up something here. haven't been to this place for some time already. literally can see spiderwebs...

anyway, back to the post.

i'm kind of excited on what i'm typing up. but before i get in, i just seek your forgiveness and pardon for my poor command of English. i may offend you with what i am typing.

i have been thinking about 'appropriateness' and it has been something that has been on my mind for a really long time since i don't know when. thus, i finally decided to look up on what it means. so, according to dictionary.com, it means '
suitable or fitting for a particular purpose, person, occasion, etc.: an appropriate example; an appropriate dress.'

so, what is fitting? what is suitable? just looking at this definition may set you thinking what is considered as suitable for a person, for an occasion...

then again, i decided to search up a bit more on the word 'appropriate' on the thesaurus. i found that it is related to words like 'befitting', 'correct', 'pertinent', 'proper', 'well-suited'. then, it really set me off thinking even more, thus, i decided to refer to the bible.

i actually found some verses which really caught my attention on what i really wish to share about.

in Romans 13:13, it is stated that '
Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy.' i believe that this verse is telling us that we are to be of proper (appropriate) character. i truly believe that as believers, our character is the best way of showing Christ to the people that we meet. behaving, acting and speaking appropriately is really a key in life. just imagine this situation, a couple behaving very intimately in a public place where people can look at them. to the couple, it could be a norm for them to behave with such intimacy. but then, people around may find it an inconsiderate act and make the couple open to public criticism. i'm not saying that couples are not allowed to behave intimately in public but that they should be sensitive to the people around them too when they are in a public place.

just like our behaviour and actions as believers, we got to have a sense of appropriateness in things that we do and say. people, let alone the unchurch, do not look at us like how God looks at us, they look at our outward which could be translated to as our actions, words we speak or write and character. what we say or do may seem harmless and ok. but,
saying or doing things at the right time will win people to us. saying or doing things at the wrong time, turns them away. the bible says 'he who win souls is wise'.

also
, people may misinterpret what we meant for good as something else just like that. thus, sensitivity to others is another key which is really important.

in Ecclesiastes 3:1, the Amplified Bible states. '
TO EVERYTHING there is a season, and a time for every matter or purpose under heaven:' it even emphasised on the word 'everything' in capital. i really felt, this really showed the importance for appropriateness in life.

i'm not sharing this as if i have a very good, appropriate behaviour. no. i, myself personally have character flaws on my own i need to deal with too. i do do things and speak inappropriately now and then, here and there. but, i really believe, friends, as we make a decision to be appropriate, we can really win people to our side.

God is good.
